DSM catering business, organization team up to give back this Thanksgiving
Hot Tamale Catering teamed up with Do Good Des Moines to provide both homecooked food and clothing for people on Thanksgiving Day.
Iowans across the Des Moines area used Thanksgiving not only to give thanks, but to also give back to others. Hot Tamale Catering teamed up with Do Good Des Moines, an organization working to engage Central Iowa positively by helping those in need. While the catering team dished out hot and homecooked meals to people who stopped by, Do Good Des Moines was able to provide an array of clothing for people in Hot Tamale Catering’s building. “Some people just can’t afford these things — no matter what the year looks like — but with inflation, it’s so much more important this year,” said Caitlyn McLain, the founder of Do Good Des Moines. Thursday was the third year Hot Tamale Catering provided free meals for anyone, not just people in need. The catering business also provides meals on Christmas, which is something the Hot Tamale team plans to do again this year. “Seeing other people smile and everybody else enjoy the food and then look at clothing, it’s just really something that we enjoy,” said Isela Davila, the daughter of Angie Ramos, who owns Hot Tamale Catering. Angie Ramos, Isela Davila, and the team are also becoming well known for the non-profit 4 All Kids, which provides hot meals for Des Moines area students as they get out of school.
